In exciting news for the Gladstone Port City Power men’s program, the team has secured the services of import combo guard Taylor Young for the 2018 season.
Taylor comes to the program with QBL experience, having featured in four games for the Rockhampton Rockets in season 2017, with averages of 14.5PPG, 3.25RPG and 2APG. Taylor is a graduate of Warner Pacific University in the United States.
When asked about this signing, Coach Walmsley said “In signing Taylor, we have added… a person we trust will have an outstanding impact on the community of Gladstone, both on the court and off. Taylor is a player that exemplifies our vision for how this team will play in 2018. He is electric in transition, is a crafty offensive playmaker and is a committed defender with the ability to defend a number of positions. Whilst only in a short-term role, Taylor has experienced the standard of the QBL competition and has proven to be someone who can produce at this level. I am very excited to introduce Taylor as our first signing for 2018 and believe he embodies all the characteristics that we wish to represent as a program moving forward”
In response to his signing, Taylor had this to say “Choosing to sign with Gladstone for the 2018 season was an easy decision for me when Coach Walmsley approached me with the opportunity. Coach knows basketball, is a very genuine person and is someone I have a pre-existing relationship with. Based on that, I was confident that playing for him, in this situation, would be hugely beneficial for my professional basketball career. I think I can bring a competitive and winning attitude to the Gladstone program, which should generate some buzz around the community. Coach has had some fantastic things to say about the fans and supporters in the town of Gladstone and I’m looking forward to representing them on the court in 2018”
Welcome Taylor. We are excited to have you on board.
