Matthew Hancock

Gladstone Port City Power Men have signed current Illawarra Hawks NBL Development Player, Matt Hancock.

Matt has an extensive basketball resume, including time spent at Lamar University and the University of West Alabama in the United States. In recent seasons, Matt has spent time in development roles with the Illawarra Hawks and Melbourne United in the NBL. Matt previously represented the Geraldton Buccaneers in the WA SBL. Matt is a 6′4 guard, known for his shooting ability and his individual defensive capabilities.

On his commitment to the Power, Matt said “I am extremely excited to be working with Coach Walmsley and the rest of the team for the upcoming QBL season. I am hopeful that my college and NBL experience can bring another dimension to the team, as we strive towards the common goal of winning a championship. I look forward to becoming a part of this tight knit community, both on and off the court”

He is an impactful offensive player, a competitive bulldog and someone that takes pride in his ability as a defensive stopper. Matt has experience at the NBL level and will leverage those experiences to ensure success in the QBL. In my conversations with Matt, it is clear our priorities are aligned. Matt wants to be part of a winning program and is eager to lead the Port City Power men back into relevance in season 2018.
