The Gladstone Port City Power men have added another piece to the 2018 puzzle with the addition of guard Jordan Lum Kon from Sydney, NSW.
Jordan has played at the highest senior level in NSW, representing both Parramatta Wildcats and Maitland Mustangs in the Waratah League. Jordan also played with the St George Saints in the NSW state league. Jordan has recently returned from representing team Australia in the Jump10 challenge in China, where he was teammates with recent McD…onalds Port City Power signing Cirkook Riak. Off the court, Jordan founded his own Basketball development company, ‘Grassroots Hoops’, where he looks to provide provide pathway’s and opportunities for young aspiring players.
About this announcement, Coach Walmsley said “Every successful team has a player like Jordan Lum Kon. He is the ultimate team guy and will be extraordinary for the culture of our club. In our conversations, Jordan has demonstrated a refreshing level of humility and selflessness that is going to be contagious. He is someone that will genuinely put the needs of the team ahead of his own, which is a characteristic that can be unique in quality players at this level. Jordan is a strong guard with a rugby league background. His mixture of physicality and quickness will allow him to comfortably defend both guard positions. He has a great tempo about his offensive rhythm and is someone who can play effectively at multiple speeds. He is a good ball screen user and is going to create open looks for the number of shooters we have already added to the roster for 2018. I’d like to welcome Jordan, his wife and their daughter to the McDonalds Port City Power family”
In response, Jordan said “I’m excited to have been given this opportunity to play in the QBL representing the Gladstone McDonalds Port City Power. I am honoured to be a part of the talented team Coach Walmsley is putting together. I look forward to relocating to Gladstone and playing for a club that has so much community support”
